چکیده

Due to their peculiar property of controlled stiffness and strength under an external magnetic field, magnetorheological (MR) fluids show great potential in developing hybrid robotic grippers that the future could offer same versatility as human hand. This demands for sufficiently strong, compact switchable field sources which permanent magnets are often overshadowed by electromagnets. However, possess higher flux densities per mass unit, when assembled certain ways, they allow control joint field. Within this paper, extensive parameter study is conducted using grid search design concentric Halbach cylinder assemblies based on finite element simulations. The influence decisive geometric material properties performance these activation mechanisms studied. These include magnets’ shapes, sizes number; cylinders’ radii number pole pairs; relative permeabilities MR fluid grasped object. a measured multi-objective function considers: mean generated mechanism’s ON OFF-state, field’s inhomogeneity (i.e. standard deviation) ON-state, total magnet area both cylinders. work concludes deriving guidelines most optimal cylinders cylindrical radial bellow gripper.

Torque in Nested Halbach Cylinders

Permanent magnet variable flux sources are produced by rotating two nested N-segment, permanent magnet, Halbach cylinders. Torque is primarily an end effect, determined by field non-uniformities due to the fmite length and' segmented structure of the cylinders. Due to symmetry, one cylinder experiences zero torque In a uniform applied field. Experiment and numerical simulation reveal that the t...

a study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns

attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...

Powder Alignment System for Anisotropic Bonded NdFeB Halbach Cylinders

A Halbach cylinder, fabricated from pre-magnetized sintered NdFeB magnet segments, is proposed for the powder aligning system during the compression or injection moulding of anisotropic bonded Halbach oriented NdFeB ring magnets. The influence of leading design parameters of the powder aligning system, viz. the number of magnet segments per pole, their axial length and radial thickness, and the...

Turbulent flow between counter-rotating concentric cylinders: a direct numerical simulation study

We report three-dimensional direct numerical simulations of the turbulent flow between counter-rotating concentric cylinders with a radius ratio 0.5. The innerand outer-cylinder Reynolds numbers have the same magnitude, which ranges from 500 to 4000 in the simulations. We show that with the increase of Reynolds number, the prevailing structures in the flow are azimuthal vortices with scales muc...

Magnetohydrodynamic Flow in Horizontal Concentric Cylinders

This article presents the exact solutions of the velocity and temperature fields for a steady fully developed magnetohydrodynamic flow of a viscous incompressible and electrically conducting fluid between two horizontal concentric cylinders. Our study focuses on the influence of the Hartmann number, Brinkman number, Péclet number and inner radius on the fluid temperature field, entropy generati...
